The requirement for this course is anatomy Physiology & massage, or equivalent Health Care certificate. Baby massage is a wonderful way to communicate using gentle, loving strokes, reassuring the baby of comfort and nurturing. This can also enrich the ‘bonding’ with mother and father, establishing a routine which suits and benefits both baby and parent. The most natural action for a parent to do to their child is to show care and affection by giving attention and ‘Touch’. The most powerful of our senses, awakening the nervous system, the muscles and stimulating circulation and the digestive system , having the effect of soothing when baby is tearful and stimulating to assist colic. On successful completion you will be able to introduce parents and carers to this wonderful experience of baby massage. You will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to deliver to groups and individual, giving carers and parents the confidence to safely massage their baby achieving benefits for both giver and receiver.
The course will consist of the following:
4 Days to cover the theory topics and practical sessions to establish the routine .
Topics covered:
Baby anatomy, Milestones in development, Infant states, Engagement & Disengagement signs, Contra Indications, Benefits of massage, H& S issues, Preparation for massage, Aftercare, Massage movements. Case study criteria and teaching/trainer advice and assessment
Part of the fourth day will be assessment consisting of ; 15 minute micro- teach session. Feedback given with structured teaching/trainer advice Theory paper (multiple- choice) Practical assessment and case study criteria Submission of 1,000 word essay on any aspect of Baby Massage.within 2 weeks of completion of course.
On successful completion of the assessments a certificate will be issued accredited by EMBODY.
